Description
Up to 20 TB native capacity (up to 60 TB compressed)
Leverage high capacity to help reduce the need for additional tape drives and cartridges. Use fewer drives to reduce complexity of your tape infrastructure. Double the compressed capacity of LTO-8 media.
IBM Spectrum Archive with LTFS technology
IBM TS1160 leverages IBM Spectrum Archive™ for direct, intuitive and graphical access to data stored in IBM tape drives and libraries by incorporating the IBM Linear Tape File System™ (LTFS) format standard. LTFS compatibility allows tape-stored data to be accessed as if it were on disk or flash storage.
Address ransomware and cybersecurity threats
Tape has become a critical component of robust data protection strategies to confront cybercrime. Tape’s Air Gap implies that most tape cartridges typically reside in library racks meaning they are offline most of the time and are not electronically accessible to hackers or ransomware. Tape remains as the ultimate line of defense to offer greater protection of sensitive corporate data.
Support for most open systems servers
Help simplify the storage environment with support to most open-systems servers and enable flexibility for growth and change in your data center. What’s more, IBM Spectrum Protect™ and other compatible software can be used with TS1160 for storage and tape management.
3592 media options
Utilize multiple media options including re-writable, economy and WORM formats, all with flexible ordering options.
Encryption support
The TS1160-based encryption and associated IBM Security Key Lifecycle Manager components are supported in a wide range of environments, including select IBM Power Systems, IBM System x, and other servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7.6 operating system.
